Cast your line and reel in the big one!
Cast your line and reel in the big one! BIG CATCH is a ColecoVision conversion of the Atari 2600 classic Fishing Derby by Activision. Compete to catch the most fish while avoiding the hungry shark patrolling the waters below.
Two anglers sit on opposite docks, casting their lines into the lake. Different fish swim at different depths — the deeper fish score higher, but they take longer to reel in and the shark is always lurking, ready to steal your catch. Race your opponent to reach the target score first!
Play against the computer or challenge a friend in two-player mode. Simple to learn, tough to master — especially when the shark has other plans for your prize fish.

The original Fishing Derby was designed by David Crane for Activision in 1980 — the same legendary programmer who later created Pitfall!, one of the best-selling Atari 2600 games of all time. Fishing Derby was one of Activision's earliest releases and demonstrated that third-party developers could create games rivaling the quality of Atari's own titles.
Activision, founded in 1979 by former Atari programmers, was the world's first independent video game developer. Their games for the Atari 2600 consistently outperformed Atari's own software, and titles like Fishing Derby proved that great game design could overcome hardware limitations.
BIG CATCH enhances the experience with the ColecoVision's expanded color palette, higher resolution sprites, and more detailed underwater scenery — giving David Crane's classic design the visual treatment it always deserved.
